History
Creation of FONDEL Drummond
Between 1978 and 1987, following the federal government’s decision to abandon the construction of a heavy water plant in the region, a significant number of jobs were lost. In response, the Government of Canada established a special regional development fund. This initiative led to the creation of the Laprade-Drummond Economic Development Fund Inc. (FONDEL Drummond), laying the foundation for what would later become CAE Drummond.
$1 Million Investment in New Funds
In September 1993, the Government of Canada made an additional $1 million investment to expand FONDEL Drummond’s capacity to support small and medium-sized businesses (SMEs) throughout the region.
Agreement Signed with Canada Economic Development
In June 2000, FONDEL Drummond signed an agreement with Canada Economic Development (CED). This new non-repayable contribution enabled the organization to expand its range of services and strengthen its support for small and medium-sized businesses (SMEs) throughout the region.
FONDEL Drummond Becomes CAE Drummond
In January 2007, following negotiations between Canada Economic Development (CED), the Regroupement des CAE du Québec, and the Réseau des SADC du Québec, FONDEL Drummond became the 10th Business Assistance Centre (CAE) in Quebec. This marked the official creation of what is now known as CAE Drummond (Centre d’aide aux entreprises de Drummond).
$1 Million Partnership with UV Mutual
In November 2017, CAE Drummond entered into a $1 million agreement with UV Mutual Insurance Company. This loan strengthened the organization’s investment fund, increasing its capacity to support the growth and development of small and medium-sized businesses (SMEs) throughout the region.
Appointment of a New Executive Director for CAE Drummond
Ms. Edith St-Pierre has been appointed as Executive Director of CAE Drummond. Previously serving as Senior Financial Analyst for more than a year, Ms. St-Pierre succeeds Mr. Errold Mayrand, who retired after 17 years of dedicated service.
Renewal of the Agreement Between Canada Economic Development and CAE Drummond
The renewed funding will enable CAE Drummond to expand its support for local economic development and strengthen its assistance to entrepreneurs, including through the Youth Strategy Program.
Additional $1M Partnership with UV Insurance
UV Mutual Insurance Company is proud to renew its support for the Drummond Centre for Business Assistance (CAE Drummond). Through an additional $1 million loan, the organization will continue to play a key role in supporting the growth and development of small and medium-sized businesses (SMEs) across the region.
